Kunzite

Kunzite is a rare pink-to-lilac gemstone variety of spodumene, named after Tiffany & Co. gemologist George Frederick Kunz, and prized for its clear transparency and pleochroism.

Kunzite is primarily mined in Afghanistan, Brazil, Madagascar, and the United States (California). While first discovered in 1902 in Pala, California, significant modern supplies come from the Middle East and South America. It is found in lithium-rich pegmatites in other regions like Myanmar, Pakistan, and Russia.
